Ornamental Iron Double Swing Gates

Ornamental Iron Double Swing Gates

preston-hollow-swing-gate.jpg

Here’s another project we completed in Preston Hollow (Dallas, Texas).

Since the columns were so wide, we used DoorKing 6100 swing gate operators. This allowed a full 90 degree opening and almost invisible gate operator arms.

Another installation successfully completed in Preston Hollow.

We match the radius of the masonry arch and matched the gates with dual LA400 Liftmaster gate operators. Two wireless keypads allow entry and exit without a remote.

University Park Iron & Wood Slide Gate

University Park Iron & Wood Slide Gate

steel-frame-wood-slide-gate-university-park.jpg

This is an iron frame slide gate covered with board on board cedar. It is a large 8′ X 28′ gate installed on a 13″ sloped driveway.

We installed an All-O-Matic SL 100 slide gate operator mounted on an in-ground steel stand. The gate motor easily handles this large gate; it runs smooth and quiet.

Because the owner wanted the gate to automatically close, we added an Omron photo eye. A photo eye is always a good idea to prevent the gate from closing on vehicles.

Liftmaster LA400 Push To Open Installation

Liftmaster LA400 Push To Open Installation

la400 push to open installation.jpg

This is a recently completed installation using the LA400 gate opener in push mode.

Some installations require push to open due to existing gate configuration or other site restrictions. This was a 12 year old gate that we modified for the LA400. The steel plate keeps the force of the gate operator from bending the pickets.

What Is A Loop Detector?

What Is A Loop Detector?

D-Tek Loop Detector.jpg

A loop detector senses the presence of a vehicle when it is over a loop. The system consists of a loop detector (see above) and a loop of wire in the concrete or some other type of driveway material.

Most people believe that the loop detects the weight of a vehicle. This is not true; it detects metal which interferes with an electromagnetic field. Any large chunk of metal will cause a loop to activate and keep a gate open or cause it to open a free exit.

The loop can be installed as a sealed unit directly in the ground, under some other type of paving, in concrete or saw cut into existing concrete. Therefore, it is important to consult your gate contractor before pouring a driveway that will contain a vehicle loop. If this is not possible, then it can always be done afterwords by saw cutting a groove within an existing driveway.

There are 3 types of loops. The first is an exit loop which allows vehicles to freely exit when they drive up to the gate. The second is called a safety loop which prevents the gate from closing on a vehicle that is resting on one of two safety loops on either side of a slide gate. The third type is a shadow loop (a swing gate safety loop) which is only used on swing gates that pass over the loop.

RE-2 Residential Telephone Entry System

RE-2 Residential Telephone Entry System

Linear RE-2.jpg

The Model RE-2 Residential Telephone Entry System is designed for residential or light commercial access control applications. The speakerphone, keypad, radio receiver, and optional video camera are housed in a rugged enclosure that can be mounted to a pedestal, or bolted directly to a wall, or flush mounted in a column. The diecast keypad keys have bright, easy-to-read graphics and are lit with an overhead light. The two operation buttons; CALL and HELP, are machined for heavy-duty reliability.

Arriving visitors will approach the unit and place a call to the residence by pressing the CALL button. The RE-2 will acquire the residence’s local telephone line and generate distinctive rings to the house telephones. The resident, knowing that the distinctive ring is originating from the access area, can answer any house telephone and converse with the visitor. If the resident decides to grant access to the visitor, they can activate either output relay in the RE-2 by pressing a key on the telephone’s keypad. If the resident decides not to grant access, hanging up or pressing a key will disconnect the visitor’s call.

If the resident is using the telephone at the time a visitor calls, the RE-2 will sound beeps on the telephone line to announce that a visitor is calling. The resident can press a key on the telephone to place the outside caller on hold and communicate with the visitor. After granting or denying access to the visitor, the outside caller will be re-connected to the resident.
